• Common error messages

TPF logfile not found, please check your config file

• The filter.log file is not found in the directory specified in the config.ini.
• The paths in the config.ini are corrupted (maybe long names in W95, / ou \,...).
• The file WALLPAPER.JPG is not the the path mentioned in config.ini.
• If you're using a version earlier than 1.2, the filter.log file can be too big (I mean more than 2 Megabytes), the VB control could not manage and display so many rows.

• Known bugs and limitations

With Windows 2000, the background color is not respected for menu icons

Yes, I know, I have to use GIF files with transparency...

Solution : Use dark sun glasses.

If you ask for a Trace Route on a unreachable IP address, the process keeps pinging and won't stop. You have to kill the current process by hand even if you close TPF Log Analyzer

The trace route routines are not my owns, so I have to get time to debug them...

Solution : use Trace Route with care.

I'm using TPF 2.0.14 beta 4 or a newer version and the TPF log analyzer crashes

That's due to the new log format used by TPF 2.0.14+, this format takes into account the ICMP request type.

Solution : use older version of TPF or use a newer release (1.1b6+).

• Why not translate it in German ?

Ich spricht nicht deutch ! But Reinhold Schilk is working on translating the ruleset in german... so wait !
But don't ask me to translate it in french... I lost my french... ;-)

• Adding a rule database for each kind of application (ICQ, mIRC,...)

It could be a good idea but I don't plan to do it.. Why ? First thing because my web hosting provider offers me lotsa things for free but no MySQL access so....
Secondly because the How-to section is born to explain you how to well configure TPF, not to give you a magic set. And to propose strict and securized rules for evey net application need a lot of work. Just practise !
